CII President on US Deal
February 3, 2026: In a statement issued today, Mr Rajiv Memani, President, CII, said, "The expected reduction of US–India tariffs to 18% marks a significant step forward in the strategic economic partnership between India and US.
CII congratulates the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister Shri Piyush Goyal for steering a constructive and forward-looking dialogue and finalising the trade agreement with India’s most important Trade partner. This move will enhance the global competitiveness of Indian products while catalysing manufacturing growth, employment creation, and the development of resilient supply chains. The India-US trade deal underscores the shared commitment of India and the United States to deepen trade , technology & investment ties in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
