CII – BCG Report Charts Roadmap to Position India as a Global Mining & Construction Equipment Manufacturing Hub
The CII National Mining & Construction Equipment (MCED) Division, in partnership with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), released a report recently , "Pressing the Throttle: How India's Mining and Construction Equipment Industry Can Support Domestic Ambitions and Become a Global Force".
The report presents a comprehensive assessment of India's Mining & Construction Equipment (MCE) sector and outlines a strategic roadmap to strengthen domestic manufacturing, accelerate technology adoption, deepen localisation, enhance global competitiveness and position India as a preferred manufacturing and export hub for Mining & Construction Equipment.
Released at a time when India is witnessing unprecedented investments in infrastructure, mining, manufacturing and clean energy, the report examines the opportunities and policy interventions required for the MCE sector to support the country's long-term growth ambitions.

India's Mining & Construction Equipment industry has emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets globally, with an estimated market size of USD 17 billion and an annual growth rate of 10–12 per cent. The report notes that sustained investments across roads, railways, ports, airports, urban infrastructure, mining and renewable energy are expected to drive capital expenditure across MCE-linked sectors from approximately INR 5.5 lakh crore in 2025 to INR 9–10 lakh crore by 2030.
The report further highlights that India's mechanisation intensity remains significantly below the global average, indicating substantial headroom for future equipment demand, productivity enhancement and technology adoption.
