Chhattisgarh shares its borders with Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to the west, Uttar Pradesh to the north, Odisha and Jharkhand to the east, and Telangana (newly formed from Andhra Pradesh) to the south.
As per the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Chhattisgarh at current prices stood at Rs. 5.07 trillion (approx. US$ 61.4 billion) for the year 2023–24 (AE - Advance Estimates). Between 2015–16 and 2023–24, the GSDP at current prices has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 9.5%.
Chhattisgarh continues to be one of the few power-surplus states in India. The Korba district, often referred to as the "Power Capital of India", houses several thermal power plants. As of January 2024, the state’s total installed power generation capacity stood at 13,989 MW, comprising:

Chhattisgarh is rich in mineral resources and ranks among the top producers of coal, iron ore, dolomite, and limestone. The state continues to be the only producer of tin concentrates in India, contributing over 35% of the country’s tin ore reserves. It also has significant deposits of bauxite and quartzite.

The state continues to promote industrial growth through progressive policies. While the Industrial Policy 2014–19 laid the foundation, new initiatives under the Industrial Policy 2019–24 offer incentives across sectors including IT/ITeS, food processing, renewable energy, logistics, mining, and biotechnology.
Chhattisgarh ranks among the top 10 Indian states in the ease of doing business index, as per the DPIIT-State Reform Action Plan rankings, owing to its single-window clearance system, simplified regulations, and proactive governance.
